The Dean of Students serves as the university's primary student advocate and assists the Senior Vice President for Student Life in the leadership of the division.
The Dean of Students manages departments that provide advocacy, support, and well-being services. The Dean also works with the Division of Student Life and the broader university community to support students in crisis, promote a culture of advocacy and helping behaviors, encourage students to engage in responsible citizenship and take responsibility for their actions, and engage in community partnership to enhance resources and support for students of Kent State.
Interim Dean of Students - Todd Kamenash
Todd Kamenash is the Interim Dean of Students at Kent State University. Todd's 25+ year career in higher education has focused on student development through a social justice lens. Todd has worked in several student life units at Kent State University and the University of Buffalo including student conduct, student advocacy (ombuds) the divisional business office, and he has been an NCAA Division I assistant coach. Todd has presented regionally and nationally and is the planning chair for the 2025 International Town & Gown Association annual conference. Todd is working toward a Ph.D. in Higher Education at Kent State University.

The Office of the Dean of Students coordinates services that support students in crisis, families and students when there is a student death, and supports the leadership of the Division of Student Life. The Dean of Students manages departments that provide advocacy, support, and well-being opportunities and support services.
