Good Samaritan Provision
The health, safety, and well-being of Kent State University students are of primary concern. The University’s Good Samaritan Provision supports responsible decision-making in emergency, possibly life-threatening, situations.
The Good Samaritan Provision encourages a student to act in the best interest of themselves and/or another by contacting emergency services and obtaining timely medical assistance for emergencies related to alcohol and substance use, without concern of disciplinary consequences related to the alcohol or substance use. Rather than a disciplinary consequence, the involved student(s) may be referred to complete an appropriate drug or alcohol evaluation, counseling, and/or treatment. The initiation of the Good Samaritan Provision is case by case and at the discretion of the Dean of Students.
