Sarah Shendy, ’06, has been appointment as the first Director, Ohio Office of Law Enforcement Recruitment. Had it not been for Kent State University, she may have never gone into law enforcement.

Faculty researchers from Kent State University’s College of Nursing were recently funded by the prestigious Josiah Macy Jr. Foundation with a yearlong President’s Grant award totaling $35,000. The goal of their study is to help ensure the competencies of new healthcare providers to facilitate vital family communication at the end of life.

Kent State University and Akron-area foundations have partnered to support students in the Greater Akron community in a time of dire need through a collaboration that prioritizes positive regional impact and improving lives through education.

Kent State launched its month-long celebration of philanthropy, Giving Tuesday, on Nov. 9 and highlighted a fundamental belief that “Flashes Take Care of Flashes.”

Kent State University is proud to announce its 2020 Alumni Award recipients. Recipients are chosen based on their exceptional contributions in their chosen profession, in their communities and at Kent State. Sponsored by the alumni association, the Alumni Awards are the university’s most prestigious honors given to alumni.

“It really is all about Kent State’s wonderful students,” Mindy said. “Gary and I were able to pursue our dreams. These students deserve the opportunity to pursue their dreams and need help right now to do that.”
