Steve Harvey, producer, actor, author and former Kent State University student, is paying it forward by awarding eight of Kent State’s incoming freshmen with scholarships that will cover the total cost of attendance for each student.

Aeronautics Center under construction

FedEx Corp. has pledged $5 million, in addition to $1.5 million already given, in support of an aeronautics academic center that will be located at the Kent State University Airport. The new 17,800-square-foot building will be named the FedEx Aeronautics Academic Center.

At a ceremony held April 11, 2019, nearly 50 years after his own graduation, John Elliot, ’70, and his wife, Fonda, were present as the architecture and environmental design building was officially named “The John Elliot Center for Architecture and Environmental Design.”
