Alumni Awards

The Kent State University Alumni Association has announced the seven recipients of the 2017 Alumni Awards.

Kent State University College of Nursing seniors, Alyssa Lodi (back, right) and Anna Hunker (front, right), lead a group of middle school students through simple yoga stretches to promote relaxation and mindfulness during the health and wellness fair.

Alliance Middle School students are more likely to make healthy lifestyle choices after attending a health and wellness fair presented by a group of senior nursing students from Kent State University College of Nursing. The adolescents rotated through four exhibits which focused on positive self-talk, mindfulness and stress management, the importance of sleep, and anti-bullying and building healthy relationships.

Education at Kent State University goes beyond books, lectures and classroom walls. At Kent State, we help instill in students a sense of purposeful living; we help our students appreciate the importance of leaving a legacy of excellence, both professionally and personally.

The Fashion School's NYC Studio Director Young Kim Thanos leads a class. The Margaret Clark Morgan Foundation gift will help support the study-away program benefiting fashion school students, including those who study at the NYC Studio.

Kent State University has received a $2.5 million gift for its Shannon Rodgers and Jerry Silverman School of Fashion Design and Merchandising from the Margaret Clark Morgan Foundation of Hudson, Ohio. This gift will endow a Fashion School chair and support the study-away program for students.

Kent State received a grant for $1 million from the Gawlicki Family Foundation of Hartford, Connecticut, to fund the development of a state-of-the-art distance learning translation studies program. “This transformational gift … will enable us to better fulfill our global mission by bringing our outstanding translational studies program to the world through a high-quality, technology-rich distance learning platform,” said Kent State President, Beverly Warren.
