Katlin Shae
Biography
Katlin Shae’s work is centered around the process of weaving. Creating within the systems and patterns provided by looms, she is in constant awe of the complexities and possibilities that exist in the grid format. Through physical labor, transformation of materials, and color exploration Shae examines time and space using craft practices. Katlin Shae has been published numerous times with inclusions in Research Magazine, Surface Design Journal, Complex Weavers Journal, ColorATL, Fold/Unfold, and Materialities: Contemporary Textile Arts. She has exhibited extensively though out the United States in locations including Athens Institute For Contemporary Arts, The Ohio Craft Museum, Praxis Fiber Workshop, The Georgia Museum of Art, and The Biggs Museum of American Art. Shae received her B.F.A. in Fiber / Textile Arts from Kent State University, and her M.F.A. in Sculpture / Material Studies from The University of Georgia. She currently resides in Akron Ohio, and has been an adjunct professor in the Textiles Area at Kent State University since 2019.
