Five monetary prizes of $10,000 each are awarded to artists for Emerging, Mid-Career and Lifetime Acheivement categories for exemplary work in arts disciplines that include Design, Literature, Theatre & Dance, Music, and Visual Arts. Mid-Career Artist is awarded to two artists who have resided in Northeast Ohio and whose work has received both regional acclaim and national recognition. For more than six decades, the organization has celebrated the contributions of more than 350 exceptional artists, cultural leaders and organizations.
Corrie Slawson’s work is a result of a journalistic survey of properties and land; she builds city/landscapes that underscore development patterns of population loss and land-use that emerge through layers of printmaking, drawing and painting. Her work has been exhibited in the US and internationally, including at MOCA Cleveland, The Toledo Museum of Art, Akron Art Museum, Centro Culturel de Tijuana, SPACES and Zygote Press. Corrie earned her BFA at Parsons School of Design (NY) and her MFA at Kent State University, where she is also an adjunct professor of studio art. Her work is represented by Shaheen Modern and Contemporary in downtown Cleveland.
