Applications are now open for the Student Annual Art Exhibition, sponsored by the College of the Arts. All students in any major on Kent campus are eligible to submit up to three of their best artworks for the chance to win cash prizes. A guest juror will select artwork to be displayed in the Center for the Visual Arts Gallery from March 22-24 with a reception and award ceremony to take place on March 24 from 5-7 p.m. The reception and exhibition are free and open to students and the public.
Prizes:
Awards and cash prizes will be given for Best in Show ($1,000); First Runner Up ($500); and Second Runner Up ($250). A People's Choice Award ($500) will also be awarded to the finalist whose work garners the most votes at the gallery.

About the juror
Merijn van der Heijden grew up in Tilburg, the Netherlands where she received her BFA degree (Sculpture and Textiles) from the Academy of Fine Arts and Art Education; she received her MFA degree (Media Arts) from The Ohio State University. Merijn was awarded a national MFA juried award upon completion of her MFA which resulted in a solo exhibition in New York; she has presented her own work across the United States and in the Netherlands.
Merijn served as the director of the Denison University Art Gallery prior to accepting a position of assistant professor in the School of Art and Art History at the University of Florida where she taught sculpture, installation art, performance and video art. Ms. van der Heijden moved back to Ohio and The Ohio State University in 2004 where she worked as the assistant dean and director of the Arts and Sciences Honors Program.
