Why pursue a degree in visual art? An education in the visual arts prepares students for a variety of careers because it builds skills in innovation, critical thinking, and problem solving as well as resource and time management. Our faculty are experts in their fields and can provide guidance to students as they pursue their careers in the arts. Travel and study art:

Kent State is only a short drive to Cleveland, Akron and Canton and a day-trip away from further visual arts resources in the cities of Pittsburgh, Columbus, Toledo, and Detroit.

The School of Art offers travel study opportunities every semester to New York City and other nearby cities as well as annual/bi-annual trips to Italy and China. 

Visiting artists and scholars:

Our renowned visiting artist and scholar program brings professionals from around the country to Kent State to give lectures and work with our students.

Kent Blossom Art Intensives is our two-week summer studio intensive program that brings visiting artists from all over the country to Kent State. You'll work with and get feedback from professionals in your discipline.
