National Gay Pilots Association
The NGPA dates back to around 1990 out of Provincetown, Massachusetts. A handful of gay pilots gathered very discreetly to support each other and fight for equality. It was a time when airline pilots risked losing their jobs or military pilots dishonorably discharged for being outed as gay. Over the course of its over 25 year lifespan, the organization has sought to eliminate the negative stigma of being gay within the aviation industry. We seek to encourage the LGBT community to get involved in aviation, foster equality, and provide a network for LGBT aviators around the world.
