Departments may also authorize charges for fingerprinting using Interdepartmental Charges (IDC). Please contact the IRC to make arrangements. All individuals who charge a department's index number must be listed as an authorized user on the IDC sheet set up with the IRC.

The purchase of one background check (FBI, BCI, or combined FBI/BCI) yields one physical copy (can be sent to any domestic address) and one electronic copy (limited options, not an email address).

*The IRC is not responsible for knowing the appropriate codes for your background check. A list of codes is available for patrons to browse, though it is recommended that patrons confirm their codes with their supervisor, employer, etc. The IRC nor its employees are responsible for the use of incorrect codes.

The BCI&I will usually complete an Ohio and federal criminal background check within 48 hours; however, it could take up to 4-6 weeks before you or the address you requested receive your results in the mail. This is your only official copy of your results. The IRC does not have access to your results and therefore cannot provide you with another copy. You can obtain additional official copies for a fee from BCI&I by calling 877-224-0043.
