Abstract: Since Louis Pasteur, chemists have been fascinated by chirality, however its connection with electron spin was not realized until the 21st century and its implications for chemistry and biochemistry is only beginning to be revealed. I will discuss chiral induced spin selectivity (CISS), which refers to the fact that charge polarization and charge transfer in chiral molecules (and materials) is accompanied by spin polarization and spin transfer. After I introduce some of the seminal works on CISS as background, I will describe some of our recent studies that investigate the implica...

Kent State University ROTC Cadets present the colors at a Kent State football game at Dix Stadium.

“Always Ready, Always There” is the motto of the National Guard. In many ways, this describes Kent State University’s Center for Adult and Veteran Services, too. For the 14th consecutive year, Kent State has been designated a Military FriendlyⓇ School. For 2023-2024, the Kent Campus ranked in the top 20% of institutions, giving it a Silver ranking. The guard motto and the Center for Adult and Veteran Services are both familiar and comforting to Jacob Gorman, a senior aeronautics major with a professional pilot concentration.
