MJ Eckhouse Memorial Endowed Scholarship

The MJ Eckhouse Memorial Endowed Scholarship was established by Lis Regula in memory of his late husband, MJ Eckhouse, this scholarship honors MJ’s advocacy for the trans and LGBTQ+ communities and social justice. An active Kent State University alumnus, MJ contributed to campus activism, managed one of Ohio's first openly trans political candidates, and played a key role in local non-discrimination ordinances and banning conversion therapy. He was also a musician and recovery advocate.

Education and Human Services

The Education and Human Services Theme Community is designed for students who are passionate about serving others and making a positive impact on the world. Whether pursuing careers as teachers, interpreters, case managers, counselors, or in related fields, students in this community come together around a shared commitment to support and service. By fostering a strong sense of belonging, the community provides opportunities to build meaningful connections and relationships that support students throughout their academic journey and beyond.

Kent State Male Empowerment Network Scholarship

The Male Empowerment Network (M.E.N.) scholarship is offered to support students who are actively engaged in the Male Empowerment Network at Kent State University to support their academic journey. M.E.N. is a student organization open to all students and has been in existence since 2010, serving more than 1,000 students since its founding. The scholarship was founded by Mr. Harvey, an alumnus of Kent State University who attended in 1975 and is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., initiated through the Psi Gamma Chapter.

Panhellenic Scholarship

The Panhellenic Scholarship was established by leaders on the Kent State College Panhellenic Council in order to provide members with an opportunity to advance academically and lessen financial burden. This scholarship can be presented to any member(s) of the Panhellenic community who display Panhellenic values of sisterhood, service, scholarship and leadership.

Interfraternity Council Scholarship

The Interfraternity Council Scholarship was established by leaders on the Kent State Interfraternity Council in order to provide members with an opportunity to advance academically and lessen financial burden. This scholarship can be presented to any IFC Community member.

  • Must be an active member of an Interfraternity Council fraternity chapter at Kent State University in good standing.

Greek Alumni Council Scholarship

This scholarship can be presented to any member(s) of the FSL Community who embodies the principles of Fraternity and Sorority Life.

  • Must be an active member of a Panhellenic Council, Interfraternity Council, or United Greek Council chapter at Kent State University in good standing.

Ali Fuhrman Memorial Scholarship

The Ali Fuhrman Memorial Scholarship, named after Ali Fuhrman—an alumna of Delta Gamma, Gamma Epsilon chapter here at Kent State. Ali graduated from the Hospitality Management program. Ali's life was tragically taken after she was hit by a drunk driver a year after graduating from Kent State in 2015. Ali exemplified the values of Delta Gamma and wore the golden anchor with pride. This scholarship can be presented to any member of the FSL community who represents and embodies the FSL community values—just as Ali did.

Virginia Buckley Memorial Scholarship

The Virginia Buckley Memorial Delta Gamma Leadership Scholarship was established this year in honor of Virginia "Ginny" Buckley, who served as the first chapter President of Delta Gamma, Gamma Epsilon chapter in 1947 here at Kent State. The Virginia Buckley Memorial Delta Gamma Leadership Scholarship is awarded to sisters of the Delta Gamma, Gamma Epsilon chapter who have served in executive leadership positions within the chapter and display academic achievement.
