From now through Sunday, Sept. 19, Cockeye Creamery, located at 1805 1/2, Parkman Rd NW in Warren, will be serving its Kent State-inspired ice cream “Black Squirrel” to raise money for Kent State University at Trumbull's Care Closet.  Kent State alumnus, Max Hoover, owner of Cockeye Creamery created the flavor to pay homage to Kent State’s unofficial mascot – the black squirrel. The Cleveland Arts Prize awarded Mid-Career Awards to Kent State alumni Alice Ripley and Corrie Slawson. Slawson earned her MFA with a focus in painting from Kent State's School of Art and currently works as a part-time faculty member in painting and drawing for the school. The Kent State University at Ashtabula community mourns the loss of former student and long-time benefactor John J. Cogan, Ph.D., who passed away August 15, 2021 at the age of 79 at his home in Bloomington, Minn. Dr. Cogan, who attended what was then called the Kent State Academic Center in Ashtabula from 1960-1962, was the first recipient of the Roger T.
