A team of Columbiana County Rising Scholars students recently participated in the finals of the NASA HUNCH culinary competition at the Johnson Space Center in Houston to determine if their culinary creation would be a future meal for International Space Station astronauts. EMAT Students Showcase Neurodiversity in Augmented Reality Experience

Growing up, students Rebecca Haywood and Riley Schaefer saw little to no representation of neurodivergent characters in children’s media. When the two took the augmented reality in children’s literature course offered through their program and Design Innovation last year, they wanted to change that for others. So, they created an interactive story where readers immerse themselves in the playground fun of two neurodivergent characters.

Deadline approaching: register this week for Adobe Education Institute

Kent State faculty are eligible to participate in the Adobe Education Institute (AEI), an invitation-only conference for faculty at Adobe Creative Campus institutions, will take place Jun. 10-14, 2024. The AEI offers a series of live, hands-on training sessions where participants will discover ways to deepen student engagement and foster multi-modal teaching using Adobe technology. All sessions will be delivered remotely and recorded for on-demand access. Register by May 31.

Final call for proposals for Reimagining the Academy Conference

The call for proposals for Reimagining the Academy: Coalition-Building in a Divided World, closes in less than one week: Monday, June 3. Faculty, staff, students and community members are invited to submit a panel, roundtable, paper or workshop for the conference, which takes place Friday, Sept. 20 through Saturday, Sept. 21 at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Virtual engagement opportunities will also be available.

In order to serve you best, the Employee and Labor Relations team, within the Division of People, Culture and Belonging, is pleased to announce expanded hours of availability. A member of the department will be reachable in-person or by phone or email starting at 7 a.m. Monday through Friday. The office is located in Heer Hall on Kent Campus.
