On February 21, Jackie Searfoss, a representative of the Streetsboro United Methodist Church (SUMC), visited Kent State University to introduce the Honors College community to an initiative that SUMC is very passionate about. At the event, which was organized by Honors College special assistant Lori Michael, Searfoss showed Honors College students and staff how to create sleeping mats for the homeless using only scissors and plastic grocery bags. Campus Executive Chef, Billy Edmondson, won first place at the 2020 NACUFS Midwest Culinary Challenge. The event took place at University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana this past weekend. “I’m at my happiest when I’m making music or teaching others to do it,” says Dr. Jay Dorfman. Dr. Dorfman gets to teach a variety of music courses at Kent State University ranging from music technology to Progressive and Vernacular Music Methods to Rock Band Performance and Pedagogy.
