Town & Gown Tidbit: Kent Heritage Festival

Join us Saturday, July 5 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. for the Kent Heritage Festival. This year’s festival will include live music and entertainment on two stages, a children’s play and activities area, local food trucks, the classic car show and fireworks at dark. The Kent Jaycees will host their Ducks River Race event and, of course, the festival will include downtown Kent restaurants and small businesses, the Haymaker Farmers’ Market, DORA and more! 

Volunteers needed: Move-in golf cart drivers

Help us roll out the red carpet for our newest community members! We’re looking for friendly volunteers to drive golf carts during the Kent Campus First-Year Student Move-In on August 13 and 14. You'll be transporting students and their families from long-term parking to the residence halls—a simple but impactful way to offer a warm welcome to campus. Shifts are available from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sign up for as many as you'd like. Golf cart certification is required (easy instructions are included). 

Porthouse Theatre offer faculty and staff BOGO for July 4

Kent State faculty and staff have an exclusive offer to see “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown” on July 4. When you buy one ticket, get the second free! Call for nominations: Advisor Impact Award

Nominations are now open for the Kent State University Advisor Impact Award! Sponsored by University Advising, the Advisor Impact Award is a quarterly recognition given to one outstanding academic advisor who has made a significant positive impact on the lives and academic success of their students. This award celebrates advisors who embody the Kent State University Advising Guiding Principles. Nominations for the award close Friday, July 11.

Kent State rode a dominant first half to defeat Western Michigan 73-66 Thursday night, securing their spot in the Mid-American Conference tournament semifinals.The Golden Flashes (22-10, 11-7 MAC) built a commanding 43-25 halftime lead and withstood a second-half rally from the Broncos (12-20, 9-9 MAC) at Rocket Arena in Cleveland.Marquis Barnett led Kent State with 18 points, while Jalen Sullinger and Cian Medley each contributed 13 points. Kent State Baseball takes on the Ohio State Buckeyes Wednesday, April 9, at Bill Davis Stadium in Columbus, Ohio!

Join the Kent State Central Ohio Alumni Chapter for a tailgate in the stadium parking lot to enjoy food and Kent State prizes with fellow alumni and fans before cheering on the Golden Flashes at their 6 p.m. game! Alumni are welcome to bring a cooler, chair or lawn games.
