WHAT: Kent State University will celebrate its newest graduates at its One University Commencement at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 12, at Dix Stadium. The ceremony recognizes graduates from the university’s eight campuses. In total, Kent State will confer 5,345 degrees this spring. More than 3,000 graduating students have registered to attend the One University Commencement at the stadium. Dr. David Dees, interim dean of Kent State University Columbiana County campuses, announced that this year’s commencement speaker is former Salem resident, Robert Conrad, who will address graduates at a combined commencement ceremony on May 11 at the Crestview High School Performing Arts Center. The Kent State University School of Communication Studies (COMM) hosted its annual Scholarships and Student Awards Reception on Friday, April 20, with nearly 80 students, parents, donors, faculty and staff members in attendance. OISE 1259419 IRES Responsive Fibers (Professor Antal Jakli) Encapsulation of liquid crystals in electrospun polymer fibers was investigated in Suwang, South Korea and in the University of Luxembourg. The recoil process of viscoelastic free-standing liquid crystal filaments was studied experimentally and theoretically in Magdeburg and Goettingen, Germany.
