“Always in our thoughts, forever in our hearts," is inscribed on a plaque at the Kent State Student Memorial Garden on Manchester Field on the Kent Campus. It was created in 2015 in remembrance of all Kent State students who have died. The inspiration for the Student Memorial Garden came from Undergraduate Student Government and other student organizations who advocated for a permanent student memorial on campus. While on a campus tour last year, Copley High School senior Grant Hyne and his mom, Allayne, noticed there wasn’t a specific area where students could hang hammocks and just chill out.
