National award recognizes student life professionals

The Division of Student Life at Kent State University has been selected as one of the 2024 Most Promising Places to Work in Student Affairs (MPPWSA) by the American College Personnel Association (ACPA) — College Student Educators International and the Diverse: Issues in Higher Education magazine. The division has received this national recognition for the fourth consecutive year. Out of the 26 MPPWSA, Kent State was the only university in Ohio included in this year’s list.

Kent State University Athletics is no stranger to a deep run in the NCAA Tournament.   The Kent State women’s basketball team recently won the Mid-American Conference Tournament championship for the first time since 2002. Priyanka Kumari, Bijaya Basnet, Maxim Lavrentovich, and Oleg Lavrentovich have published an article in the journal Science on chiral ground states of ferroelectric liquid crystals.  An object is considered chiral if it can be distinguished from its mirror image. Chirality is a characteristic of living organisms and is usually caused by chiral chemical structure of constituent molecules.
