Benefits Department Hosts Financial Wellness Seminars

The University Benefits Department will host a series of educational seminars on financial wellness and planning for new employees of Kent State University who have been with the university 90 days or less.

Come and learn more about:

  • Financial Wellness and what that really means
  • State of Ohio Retirement Systems (OPERS, STRS, ARP)
  • Opportunities to increase your retirement earnings
  • Social Security and the Windfall Elimination Provision

Seminars will be held on the last Thursday of each month. The first meeting is Thursday, March 31, in Heer Hall, Room 102 from noon-1 p.m. Lunch will be served.

Testing Your Faith Act (H.B. 353) was enacted in the Spring 2023 semester. In ordinance with this bill, Kent State University created a new administrative policy for religious and spiritual accommodations. This administrative policy allows students to report up to three days of unexcused absences to participate in religious holidays or community-held events in alignment with their spirituality.

At Kent State, we want to honor the celebration of our Native American and Indigenous culture by developing a calendar encompassing all the university events that are relevant to Native American Heritage Month. The Native American Heritage Month Planning Committee is welcoming university divisions, departments and student organizations to begin submitting their programming, activities and events to the University Events Calendar to be featured on the Native American Heritage Month Website.
