Kent State University adheres to and complies with the Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act Amendments of 1989 (Public Law 101-226), which requires an institution of higher education to implement programs to prevent the use of illicit drugs and the abuse of alcohol by students and its employees. Under the Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act, the university also is required to publish and disseminate to students and employees an annual notice regarding drug and alcohol policies and related information.
At a recent meeting, members of the Campus Ministers Organization serving Kent State University voted to change the name of the organization to the Campus Religious Life Association to better reflect the diversity of its membership. This change is effective immediately.

Testing Your Faith Act (H.B. 353) was enacted in the Spring 2023 semester. In ordinance with this bill, Kent State University created a new administrative policy for religious and spiritual accommodations. This administrative policy allows students to report up to three days of unexcused absences to participate in religious holidays or community-held events in alignment with their spirituality.
