Several athletes have been incorporating probiotics for its many benefits in boosting their workout routines. Kent State University faculty and students are also now looking at how probiotics can help combat heat-caused complications during exercise, such as heat stroke and heat exhaustion.
Kent State University fashion design and merchandising students are taking their floral-inspired fabrics to the Cleveland Botanical Garden during this year’s Orchid Mania exhibition that is open now through March 11. The display is part of an annual school-sponsored competition, which is directed toward junior-level design students. Students are charged with conceiving of fabric and garment designs that are inspired by the exquisite flora, the orchid. Kent State faculty member Betsy Carr coordinates the event.

Kent State University's holiday closure for 2024 will begin Monday, Dec. 23, 2024, at 10:30 p.m. All offices will re-open on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025. Employees not eligible for the paid leave include student employees, classified temporary staff, temporary agency staff, short-term unclassified appointments, unclassified intermittent appointments and employees in a lay-off status. More information on the holiday schedule, including how employees should report time during that period, will be available later this month.
Testing Your Faith Act (H.B. 353) was enacted in the Spring 2023 semester. In ordinance with this bill, Kent State University created a new administrative policy for religious and spiritual accommodations. This administrative policy allows students to report up to three days of unexcused absences to participate in religious holidays or community-held events in alignment with their spirituality.
