Faculty/Staff Group Exercise Classes Continue for the Fall

Faculty/Staff Group Exercise Classes are provided at no cost to Kent State University employees and sponsored by Employee Wellness and the Department of Recreational Services. A membership is not required to attend, but advance registration is required and space is limited for each session.

Check out our new Basic Strength class on Monday, rejuvenate with Yoga on Tuesday, power it up a bit more with Compound Strength on Wednesday, or finish your week with Spin 50/50. Be sure to register in advance and sign in at the front desk upon arrival.

All full- and part-time employees are eligible to attend faculty/staff group exercise classes. For full-time, benefits-eligible employees participating in the Wellness Your Way program, each session attended is worth 10 points toward the Tier Two total up to the maximum for the Group Exercise category or Mindfulness category for yoga.

New Class

Mondays, 12:30-1:15 p.m. – Basic Strength Training

Student Recreation and Wellness Center

No matter your fitness level, it is always good to start with (or go back to) the basics. This class will break down a variety of basic resistance exercises to learn proper form and technique to get you ready for the next level of your fitness journey. Basic Strength will be offered to faculty and staff each Monday beginning Aug. 27 from 12:30-1:15 p.m. at the Student Recreation and Wellness Center.

Continuing Faculty/Staff Group Exercise

Tuesdays, 12:15-1 p.m. – Lunchtime Yoga

All fitness levels are welcome. Participants are asked to bring their own mat.

Wednesdays, 12:15-1 p.m. – Compound Strength (formerly Total Body Toning)

This class takes Basic Strength to the next level and puts those individual resistance exercises together to form compound movements. Work the entire body at once to increase caloric burn, improve balance and coordination and increase strength.

Fridays, 12:15-1 p.m. – Spin 50/50

This is an indoor stationary cycling class that focuses on improving your cardiovascular and muscular fitness with biking on simulated flat roads, hills and jumps, followed by off-the-bike strength training and core exercises.
