How Social Media Impacts Relationships (Lunch and Learn)

Smartphone, Smart TV, etablet, eReader, Apple, HP, Android, to name a few. Then there is Google, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, IM, Flicker, YouTube, Yelp, Pinterest, etc. – welcome to the world of social media.

Gone are the family dinner table discussions. In this workshop, you will define social media and identify its uses and audiences. On Thursday, June 16, from noon to 1 p.m. at Heer Hall, you can explore the latest disorder known as social media anxiety disorder, or SMAD, and discuss the role social media could have on one's self-image and relational skills. The presenter is Terri O'Reilly, Impact Solutions.

Registration is required and space is limited. A light lunch will be served to all attendees.

Testing Your Faith Act (H.B. 353) was enacted in the Spring 2023 semester. In ordinance with this bill, Kent State University created a new administrative policy for religious and spiritual accommodations. This administrative policy allows students to report up to three days of unexcused absences to participate in religious holidays or community-held events in alignment with their spirituality.

At Kent State, we want to honor the celebration of our Native American and Indigenous culture by developing a calendar encompassing all the university events that are relevant to Native American Heritage Month. The Native American Heritage Month Planning Committee is welcoming university divisions, departments and student organizations to begin submitting their programming, activities and events to the University Events Calendar to be featured on the Native American Heritage Month Website.
