Lisa R. O'Connell
Director, University Events & Protocol
Lisa joined Kent State University in July of 2012 and currently serves as director for the office of University Events & Protocol. In her role, she leads the planning of major university events and special programs. Lisa represents the University Events and Protocol office as a member of many university committees. She earned a Certificate in Hospitality & Tourism Management from Florida Atlantic University, a Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of Toledo and is presently pursuing a Master of Science degree in hospitality and tourism management. Lisa is the Vice President of the Akron Children's Hospital Emerging Leaders Board, is the Assistant Regional Director for the U.S. Northcentral Region of the North American Association of Commencement Officers, and is a graduate of the Leadership Akron Community Leadership Institute, Kent State University's Institute for Excellence leadership training program and the Protocol School of Washington.
Sarah E. McCarty
Special Events Manager
Sarah joined Kent State University in May of 2022 and currently serves as a special events manager. In her role, she assists with the management and coordination of special events organized by the Office of University Events and Protocol. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree as well as a Master of Education in higher education administration and student affairs from Kent State University.
Faye L. Nicholson
Special Events Manager
Faye joined Kent State University in May 2022 and currently serves as special events manager. In her role, she assists with the management and coordination of special events organized by the Office of University Events and Protocol. Faye earned a Master of Arts degree in communication and a Bachelor of Arts in public relations and business and organizational communication from The University of Akron. She is an accredited member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and has served as a public relations practitioner for over 20 years.
