The International Day of Peace was established in 1981 by the United Nations General Assembly. Two decades later, in 2001, the General Assembly unanimously voted to designate the Day as a period of non-violence and cease-fire. The theme for this year’s International Day of Peace is ‘Peace Education for an Equitable and Sustainable World: Local and Global Perspectives’. As part of our contribution to the Day of Peace, Kent State University will be holding a keynote talk on Friday, September 17 and and workshops on Saturday, September 18.
On Friday September 17th at 5PM via ZOOM, Dr. Barbara Wein and Mainlehwon Vonhm will speak on the importance of peace education. On Saturday the 18th beginning at 9AM, workshops will discuss peace education in practice, also via ZOOM.
There is no cost to attend the workshops.
