Undergraduate Program

The School of Peace and Conflict Studies offers an undergraduate major in Peace and Conflict Studies that prepares students for careers or graduate study in a variety of fields including conflict management, social sciences, dispute resolution, and human services.  The School also offers two minors:  Peace and Conflict Studies, and Environment, Peace and Justice (new in Fall 2023).

Core courses offered by the School give students a solid background in the theory and in the applied skills of peacebuilding and conflict management.  These skills are useful in a wide variety of work settings, life settings, and relationship settings.  Mastering peacebuilding and conflict management skills will help students both professionally and personally, in the short-term and long-term.

As part of their course of study, majors have opportunities to utilize and deepen their knowledge of peace and conflict studies as they engage in research in the field or work as interns with professionals in mediation centers, courts, schools, ombuds offices, businesses, personnel management offices, government agencies, community organizations, and human services organizations.

Upon completion of the College of Arts and Sciences general requirements and the program requirements in Peace and Conflict Studies, students receive the Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of Arts and Sciences.
