CARES Center
The CARES Center is a space that supports students who have challenges with their basic needs. The center helps students who are experiencing food insecurity, homelessness, financial insecurity, and needs related to mental well-being.
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
SNAP, or the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (formerly Food Stamps), is the largest federal nutrition program. Beginning on Jan. 16, 2021, students who meet one of the two criteria may receive SNAP if they meet all other financial and non-financial SNAP eligibility criteria.
Kent State Emergency Grant
The Kent State Emergency Grant Application is open to students enrolled at Kent State University on or after March 13, 2020, who have been affected by the pandemic and have emergency needs. If you have a pending Emergency Grant application, your application is still on file. For any additional information regarding resources for financial aid and scholarships, billing and payment, and financial wellness, please contact One Stop at (330) 672-6000.
Kent Cares Website
This website provides both on and off-campus community resources related to food, housing, finances, mental health, clothing and more.
Food Pantries
The Campus Kitchen Pantry and the Flashes' Food Pantry has hours throughout the week including a ‘Fresh Food Friday’ joint pantry. For more information on hours and locations please visit the Campus Kitchen website linked below, or email the Dean of Students at ODOS@kent.edu.
Akron-Canton Food Bank
This website offers a way for you to search for local pantries and grocery options with updated hours. Please call the food bank directly at 330-535-6900 to confirm the accuracy of the hours.

Ohio United Way 211 is a 2-1-1 is the gateway that connects people with community resources and volunteer opportunities. If you do not live in Ohio, you can still dial 2-1-1 to be connected to the resources available in your state.
