Campbell Among 2021 "30 For The Future" Recipients

Kent State’s Dennis Campbell has been recognized among the 2021 “30 for the Future” award recipients by the Greater Akron Chamber.

Part of the Greater Akron Chamber’s approach to attracting and retaining local talent throughout the region, the “30 for the Future” award honors young professionals aged 25-39 who exhibit stellar contributions that impact their jobs and the Greater Akron Region.

Campbell serves as the Assistant Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life, overseeing the business operations of the Fraternity and Sorority Life Office. In that role, he also advises the Interfraternity Council, working extensively with the university's fraternities on risk management, leadership development, academic success, mentorship, housing, and personal growth.

"I am very thankful, honored, and blessed. I am thankful that someone in the community saw me as a leader enough to nominate me for this award and believed that I am making a big enough impact to recognize that,” said Campbell. “[I am] honored to receive this as my goal in life has always been to live my motto ‘to be a better man every day.’”

Campbell also belongs to several campus community committees focused on creating a better student experience. Outside of Kent State, he is a Lead Facilitator for CAMPUSPEAK, serving as co-author and co-founder of the Masculinity Project. In that role, he travels around the country speaking to college students about leadership, social justice, and community development.

“I just try to give the communities I care about my time and effort because they shaped me into the man I am today,” he said. “I am blown away as there are many impressive people selected for the honor this year, and to be among them truly is humbling.”

Campbell joined Kent State in July 2016. He graduated from the University of Akron in 2009 with a BA in Political Science and from Baldwin Wallace University in 2012 with a MA Ed. in Leadership in Higher Education.

A celebration of all 30 for the Future recipients for 2021, along with a gathering of the recipients of the last 15 years, will take place October 7 at Canal Park in Akron, home of the Rubberducks. In addition to networking, cocktails, and appetizers, each winner will be recognized individually.
