Kent State University will implement a new administrative policy regarding painting the Rock, which is located on Hilltop Drive on the Kent Campus. The policy, which goes into effect Jan. 11, 2021, is one of the institutional responses to racially offensive language that was painted on the Rock in 2020 and aimed at African American students.
Kent State alumna Alyssa Mittereder has struggled with an issue faced by many during the pandemic: job loss. Despite the many curve balls thrown her way, Mittereder told Spectrum News 1 Ohio that she is still passionate about the hospitality industry and searches for jobs each day, using the connections she made at Kent State to land a career, hopefully soon.

A true milestone in the concept of international education, the American Academy celebrated its first Commencement in Curitiba, Paraná, Brazil, this year. The American Academy is a dual-enrollment program jointly operated by Kent State University and the Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná. Fourteen of the students who first enrolled in the program when it launched in July 2018 were the first to graduate.
Students struggling academically or with time management skills will have an additional, powerful resource in the form of a fellow student to coach them to success. The Academic Success Center’s Peer Academic Coaching Program at Kent State University is now available for all students.
