Kent State’s Summer Undergraduate Research Experience Pivots Due to Pandemic
Last year, the Office of Student Research (OSR) successfully pivoted the 2020 Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) to a virtual format due to the COVID pandemic. The 2020 SURE program funded 77 projects, with participants spanning 37 different majors. Ann Gosky, director of the OSR in the Division of Research and Sponsored Programs, hopes to see more growth for the upcoming summer.

Alumni Spotlight - Eileen Dorsey
As an artist, it is always important to connect with the community. An artist’s network, whether it’s through their studio, galleries or even social media, can lead to amazing opportunities and recognition. A shining example of this is School of Art alumna Eileen Dorsey, who began her career as a figurative painter, and later started embracing landscapes after she earned her undergraduate degree.

Writing Internship Program Helps Honors Student Combine Creative and Professional Writing Interests
Olivia Farina is a third-year honors student majoring in English with a professional writing concentration and a creative writing minor. Originally from Painesville, Ohio, Olivia has had many successes at Kent State, from tutoring in the Writing Commons to winning awards from the Department of English. Olivia’s latest achievement, interning at the Wick Poetry Center through the English department’s Writing Internship Program (WIP), combines her passion for professional and creative writing.
