D7 to D9 Migration Validation Sessions – Limited Seats

Hi, Drupalites,

You or a designee are formally invited to a D7 to D9 Migration Validation session that will be hosted by UCM next week. We encourage our more experienced Drupalites to participate. Our newer editors may not be familiar enough with site content to participate. Please use your discretion when considering whether to sign up.

For quality assurance and to identify idiosyncrasies, this is your opportunity to compare content from the current d7 environment to content in the new D9 environment.

We have five time slots, each with 25 seats. See the available times and dates and sign up.

Before Your Session

1. Please identify 10-20 pages you want to compare in your current website and in the new environment.
   1. Tip, if you already have a Google Analytics user account, you may want to look at your Google Analytics to see the top 10-15 most viewed pages in your website.
      1. To do that go to: https://marketingplatform.google.com/about/analytics/.
      2. Login with your @kent.edu credentials.
      3. Go to Behavior / Site Content / All pages.
      4. Set the preferred date span in the top right and toggle to at least the last month’s date span.
      5. Consider using that list of pages for your validation purposes.
   2. If you do not have an account at this time, please use your best judgment on page selection.
      1. Consider your home page and top tier pages.
      2. The working team doesn't have bandwidth to create new user accounts at this time. You may, however, submit a ticket for access if you intend to use your analytics moving forward by submitting a support ticket from www.kent.edu/websupport.

At the Session

1. You’ll open two browsers.
2. In one, you will paste a url that you have identified for review.
3. In the other, you will paste the back portion of your url but you will replace the www.kent.edu with a different starting url. This will be provided at your session.
4. Compare the two views.
5. Share any identified discrepancies as instructed by your UCM session facilitators.

After the Session

1. UCM will determine whether the issue is a known global issue that is currently being remediated by our team or our extended team at One Origin.
2. If the issue is unknown, we’ll prioritize it as an item that needs to be addressed in an order based upon the issue’s severity.

Please Know 

1. Because of this project's complexity, not all issues will be resolved before the D9 launch. 
2. The working team is comprised of brand ambassadors, and we are working our very hardest to ensure the best quality of your website pages at launch time. 
3. Rest assured, the list of remaining issues will be carefully attended to, tackled and remediated.
