Gilman Scholarship Information Session Monday, 9/18/2023 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. Bowman 222 The Gilman Scholarship is a national scholarship for students who receive Pell grants and need additional funding for study abroad opportunities. Learn more about the application process, deadlines, and types of awards available!
Experiencing Florence: Summer Institute 2024 Monday, 9/18/2023 3:30 - 5:00 p.m. CUE Keybank Lounge Learn about the Kent State Florence Center, try Italian foods, get the scoop from Florence alumni and professors, and more. Join us for this experiential event where you’ll be introduced to Italian life and culture.
South Africa Field Course Photo Display Monday, 9/18/2023 5:00 - 6:30 p.m. Mezzanine, Cunningham Hall

We will have a TV displaying photos from our previous trips to South Africa. They will be displayed in the mezzanine of Cunningham Hall. We will be in attendance from 5 - 6:30 pm on the 18th September. 

Instagram Takeover Tuesday, 9/19/2023 All day Instagram @StudyAbroadKent Join Katie for a takeover of the @StudyAbroadKent Instagram stories! Katie will be sharing a day-in-the-life look at her experience in Florence, Italy!

Disability Abroad Tuesday, 9/19/2023 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. University Library 135

Studying abroad can be an exciting opportunity to expand your horizons and deepen your studies! Traveling with a disability, however, can require some additional considerations. In this presentation, we'll discuss relevant disability laws around the world and provide information on how to manage medications, mobility aids, and SAS accommodations while you are studying or traveling abroad. We hope to see you there!

Cultural Cafe: Costa Rica and Ghana

Tuesday, 9/19/2023 12:15 - 1:30 p.m. KSC Ballroom Balcony

Each month, students, faculty, and staff are invited to an informal and free Cultural Café. This month's Cultural Cafe will focus on Costa Rica and Ghana! Presenters from each country will give a short presentation about traditions and culture, government, history, geography, and food. Several delicious dishes from each country will also be available to try.

Scholarships for Language Study Abroad Tuesday, 9/19/2023 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. Bowman 311 Learn about scholarships for studying languages abroad. This session will cover the Critical Language Scholarship (a fully funded summer study abroad opportunity) and Boren Awards (awards for academic year, semester, or summer language study abroad). 
Biological Sciences Study Abroad Expo Tuesday, 9/19/2023 5:00 - 6:30 p.m. Cunningham Hall 2nd Floor The Department of Biological Sciences will be showcasing our Florence semester and FSI courses, and our department faculty led programs to Australia, Costa Rica, Galapagos, and South Africa.
International Peace Coffee Stand Wednesday, 9/20/2023 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. Esplanade between Bowman and Olson Stop by and enjoy Colombian coffee and African tea at the SPCS international peace coffee stand. We'll fill you in on the amazing international opportunities in Colombia and Rwanda happening this year while you sip on these delicious beverages sourced from our study abroad destinations.

Returned Peace Corps Volunteer Panel Wednesday, 9/20/2023 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. Bowman 313 Are you interested in living and working abroad? Come hear about the Peace Corps from returned volunteers. Returned volunteers will share their experiences and stories about their time abroad with time for any questions you might have about a Peace Corps service.
Theatre, Performance and Culture in Argentina - Spring Break - Information Session Wednesday, 9/20/2023 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. Center for the Arts - Room D206 Interested in studying and experiencing the vibrancy of theatre, performance, and culture in Buenos Aires, Argentina? Join Professor Fabio Polanco of the School of Theatre and Dance for a presentation and question and answer session about this upcoming 3 credit spring break 2024 faculty-led study abroad experience!

CCI Explore Online Information Session

The CCI Explore Online Information Session is open to all CCI majors and their families to learn more about the study abroad options that fit best with CCI degrees. We will explore the different times of the year students can travel and provide detail on our partner locations in Lisbon, Florence, and Paris.

Join us for an interactive event where you’ll get to know ISEP Study Abroad’s most cost-effective program options as well as the resources available to you to make your education abroad experience as affordable as possible.

CCI Explore Open House

The CCI Explore Open House welcomes all CCI majors to attend and learn about the different study abroad options that will fit with CCI majors. CCI students who studied abroad in previous semesters will be on hand to share their advice, and CCI advisors will be available to help students figure out the best semester to study abroad. Stop by the Gallery in Taylor Hall any time from 2:30-5:30 on Thursday September 21st to discover the right study abroad option for you.

There is a Florence session from 5:00 - 5:45 p.m. There is a general session with exchange, faculty-led, and direct enroll program students from 6:00 - 6:45 p.m.
Study in Japan Information Session Friday, 9/22/2023 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Bowman 207 Learn about summer, semester, and academic year exchange programs in the Land of the Rising Sun! Programs are offered for Japanese language learners and those who are interested in taking English-taught courses in Japan. 
Japan Alumni Panel Friday, 9/22/2023 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. Bowman 218 Learn about Kent State students' experiences studying abroad in Japan! Students that studied abroad at Hiroshima Shudo University, Rikkyo University, Nagasaki University of Foreign Studies, and Nihon University will be in attendance!
Gilman Scholarship Writing Workshop Friday, 9/22/2023 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. Bowman 207 Writing a Gilman Scholarship essay doesn't have to be stressful! Join this session to avoid staring at a blank Word document and brainstorm ideas with an education abroad advisor to help with writing a compelling scholarship application.
