Bowman 137 | Join the Education Abroad team for an alumni panel discussion on the ins and outs of studying abroad! The first panel will focus on the Kent State Florence program, and the second will focus on other types of education abroad opportunities at Kent State such as exchanges and faculty-led programs. Coffee and tea will be available. |
Cultural Cafe: Egypt and Colombia | Wednesday, 9/21/2022 | 12:00 - 1:30 p.m. | Kent State Student Center Ballroom Balcony | International Student and Scholar Services at the Office of Global Education sponsors a series of Cultural Cafés each semester. Each month, students, faculty, and staff are invited to the informal and free Café that seeks to educate and familiarize them about the countries and cultures present within the KSU community. During each Cultural Café, presenters from different cultures give a short presentation. The presentations can include photographs and feature information about traditions and culture, government, history, geography, and food. In addition, the presenting students often include demonstrations of traditional songs or dances, while actively encouraging audience participation. |
Internships and Language Programs Abroad with ISEP | Wednesday, 9/21/2022 | 2:30 - 3:30 p.m. | Satterfield 117 | Students, faculty, and staff are invited to learn about internship and language learning programs abroad through ISEP (International Student Exchange Program). Zach Tobin from ISEP will be on campus to share information and answer questions! Internship and academic programs through ISEP are available for summer, fall, spring, and the full academic year. |
Spring Break 2023 in Ecuador with Universidad Espiritu Santo |

Dr. Isidro Fierro and Andrea Losada from Universidad Espiritu Santo, the host university, in Ecuador, will discuss what to expect during the faculty-led trip to Ecuador. Dr. Amanda Johnson and Daniel Diaz Nilsson, the faculty leads, will be there to help answer questions, as well. |

Application Night: Faculty-Led Programs | Wednesday, 9/21/2022 | 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. | Library, Room 333 | Join Education Abroad Advisor, Desiree Dube, for a walk through of the application process for faculty-led programs. Bring your laptop or use one of the available computers to start an application for your faculty-led program. This is a great opportunity to get your questions answered as you complete your application. |

Freie Universitat Berlin - FU-BEST Program Webinar | Thursday, 9/22/202 | 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. |

Students can study abroad for a semester on the Freie Universitat Berlin European Studies Program (FU-BEST), which offers the opportunity to study the German language while also taking major-specific courses (political science, history, philosophy, sociology, music history, architecture, film studies, marketing/management, environmental studies, sociology, and art history) taught in English. Additionally, students studying at Freie Universitat Berlin during the spring semester are able to extend their time in Berlin to complete an 8-week internship during the summer. The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship is a competitive national award that enables students with limited financial means to participate in education abroad opportunities. To be eligible for the scholarship, students must receive a Pell Grant at the time of application or the time of study abroad participation. This writing workshop will introduce prospective applicants to the scholarship essay prompts, provide suggestions for what to include in the essay responses, and allow for time to brainstorm. You do not need to be currently applying for an education abroad program to attend! |

Do you need to apply for a passport? Visit Amy Wilkens, Clerk of Council City of Kent, at the Kent Police Station to submit your passport application! You will need to bring one passport photo, birth certificate, photo identification, and payment (two separate checks or money orders for the $35 execution fee and the $130 non-expedited passport book fee). You can complete the DS-11 form in person, or print and complete the form in advance at the Department of State website. |
