Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship Information Session Monday, February 13, 2023 12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. Bowman Hall 110 The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship is a competitive national award that enables students with limited financial means to participate in education abroad opportunities. To be eligible for the scholarship, students must receive a Pell Grant at the time of application or the time of study abroad participation. Star War's "The Mandalorian" and Intercultural Competency for the 21st Century Traveler Monday, February 13, 2023 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Bowman Hall 317 Led by an expert in International Education, Kristin Stasiowski, Ph.D., this interactive seminar will introduce participants to Star War’s The Mandalorian through an in-depth discussion of how the television show has adopted and adapted traditional lessons of intercultural competency. Designed to inform curiosity as well as future travels, participants will come away with an increased understanding of the ways The Mandalorian and teach us to be better travelers in an endless universe of new cultures.
Education Abroad Expo Tuesday, February 14, 2023 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. DI Hub 2nd Floor Lobby Visit this Valentine's Day themed Education Abroad Expo to discover and explore the many education abroad opportunities at Kent State! Paper suitcases with international candy and golden tickets for a t-shirt, hat, or education abroad application fee waiver will be available for the first 50 students!

Not Your Typical Education Abroad Fair Wednesday, February 15, 2023 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Business Administration Building, 1st Floor Learn more about the education abroad opportunities offered to business students in summer as well as programs more off the beaten track in addition to our regular programs in Florence, Geneva, and Prague. Res Airways - Italy Wednesday, February 15, 2023 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Beall / McDowell Hall, 1st Floor Lounge Join us for an opportunity to learn about Italy and its cultures and traditions directly from international students from Italy. ACIREMA Thursday, February 16, 2023 12:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. KSC 306 The simulation exercise, ACIREMA, is designed to sensitize participants to the difficulties that international students encounter in their quest for an American education. It acquaints the participants with the procedures students must follow from the initial contact with a U.S. educational institution to their arrival on campus. Open to all KSU students, staff, and faculty. Pre-registration is encouraged but not required. You can pre-register here.

Teams will be formed based on shared interests and will need to answer love-themed trivia from around the world! To Florence with Love Friday, February 17, 2023 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. CUE lobby All Florence Alumni and Future Florence students are invited to share their love and appreciation for their second home in Florence Italy. Students will have the opportunity to create and send Valentines to the Florence staff and faculty and share with future Florence students everything they LOVE about the jewel of Tuscany.

Gilman Scholarship Writing Workshop Friday, February 17, 2023 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. Bowman Hall 201 The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship is a competitive national award that enables students with limited financial means to participate in education abroad opportunities. This writing workshop will introduce prospective applicants to the scholarship essay prompts, provide suggestions for what to include in the essay responses, and allow for time to brainstorm.

Photo Contest Voting All week N/A Instagram The top 3 photos from each category of the Education Abroad Photo Contest will be featured in the Education Abroad Instagram stories during I Heart Travel Week. Winners will be announced on Monday, February 20, 2023.
