Renumbering Some DSCI Courses for Fall 2013

As part of an ongoing continuous improvement to our curriculum, several Digital Sciences courses and one TECH course have been renumbered to better reflect their positioning in the curriculum.  In three cases, courses that were previously lower-division courses have now become upper division courses.

Also, DSCI 31610/41610 Digital Systems Security will now require a programming course (either DSCI 15310 or CS 13001) as a pre-requisite.

HOW DOES THIS AFFECT ME?

  1. The Fall 2013 schedule will be viewable in FlashFAST on Monday 4 March.  The new course numbers will be listed so you’ll need to be familiar with the changes.
  2. The new numbers are already reflected on your GPS audit so if you have any confusion, use that as your point of reference.
  3. Courses that were previously numbered at 2xxxx that are now numbered at 3xxxx will count as Upper-Division Hours ONLY IF you have taken them at the 3xxxx level. If you took them when they were 2xxxx, your Upper-Division Hours on your GPS audit will be inaccurate. They filter into Upper-Division in your GPS audit and need to be manually subtracted.

If you have any questions on these changes or their impact on your degree requirements, please contact our Academic Advisory Coordinator, Kay Levandowski <klevand1@kent.edu> by email or by phone at 330-672-9069.
