Congratulations to professor Jihyun Kim Vick, Ph.D. on her receipt of Kent State University's 2022 Outstanding Research and Scholarship Award for her exceptional contribution to scholarship and research. Sponsored by the University Research Council and the Division of Research and Sponsored Programs, this award recognizes Kent State’s exceptional researchers and scholars. Awardees are selected based on the quality of their research, creative activities and scholarship and their impact on society.
Dr. J. Vick currently serves as a full professor and graduate studies coordinator for the School of Fashion at Kent State University and is an exceptionally productive and versatile researcher in the fashion context. Through her research program, Dr. J. Vick focuses on bettering the understanding of consumer motivations in the worlds of fashion, commerce and academia. She explores influencing factors that can extend the longevity fashion goods, which can reduce their negative impact on the planet. Recently, she studied key motives and user behavior of the pre-loved luxury goods acquired in a sharing economy context.
While she has garnered many outstanding awards from Kent State University, she has attained notoriety at the international level having received nomination for Vice President of Publication from the International Textile and Apparel Association (ITAA) and the Best Presentation Award from the International Economics Development and Research Center at the 6th International Conference on Advances in Management Sciences. This international recognition for Dr. J. Vick is outstanding and a testament to her work in education and as a researcher. She has received a high number of other awards illustrating her ongoing excellence in teaching and research. Vick has a lengthy list of refereed journal publications in a wide range of international journals. Her publications have 4,248 citations illustrating the importance of her work. She has had a powerful impact on other scholars. She has a strong research foothold with distinctions at the national and international level as a researcher and educator.
Dr. Vick’s track record of successful research is evidence that she is involved in substantial peer-reviewed research. This brings great visibility to her and her work in fashion, as well as promoting Kent State University. She constantly seeks platforms of national and international prominence with peer-review. She has strengthened her visibility in the field of fashion through her recognition with the ITAA and other notable venues where her work is highlighted. It is clear that reviewers find value in her work in relation to the fashion field.
