The Kent State University School of Fashion has a strong legacy of participation in the prestigious Supima Design Competition, which highlights some of the most promising emerging designers in the U.S.

The 2024 Supima Design Competition, a prominent event during New York Fashion Week, took place on September 5, 2024. Hosted by acclaimed designer Phillip Lim, the competition featured collections from seven finalists, each representing a leading U.S. fashion school. These top fashion schools selected one exceptional graduate to represent their institution. The finalists are tasked with creating capsule collections entirely made from luxurious Supima cotton, known for its superior softness and sustainability.

Lizzy Truitt, a Kent State University School of Fashion graduate, competed against students from institutions like the Fashion Institute of Technology and the Savannah College of Art and Design. Truitt  presented her collection to a distinguished panel of judges, vying for the $10,000 prize.

"We are incredibly proud of Lizzy Truitt for being selected as a finalist in the prestigious Supima Design Competition," said School of Fashion Director, Mourad Krifa. "This achievement is a testament to Lizzy's exceptional talent, creativity and dedication to her craft. Being recognized on such a prominent stage reflects not only her personal hard work but also the supportive and nurturing environment we strive to provide here at the School of Fashion. We look forward to seeing Lizzy continue to shine and make an impact in the world of design."
