Children's Literature in Augmented Reality

How can augmented reality be used to create innovative new forms of children's literature? In this course, students will respond to this design challenge by collaborating with a co-scheduled Design Innovation course to create an original augmented reality storytelling platform using the Unity Gaming engine. Students will draw on Alma Flor Ada and F. Isabel Campoy archive, housed in the Reinberger Children's Library, for inspiration and will have the unique opportunity to publicly share their final projects in the context of the Virginia Hamilton Conference on Multicultural Literature for Youth.

Renowned authors and educators Alma Flor Ada and F. Isabel Campoy are viewed as paragons for promoting bilingual education and social justice. The Alma Flor Ada and F. Isabel Campoy Collection of Multicultural Literature at the Reinberger Children's Library Center represents the combined efforts of their lifetime of work dedicated to promoting peace, cultural awareness and social justice.
