Individuals who earn the 3D Printing Micro-Credential will learn about the construction and use of 3D Printers and be involved in hands on experience in building one from a kit themselves through our MERT 21096 INDIVIDUAL INVESTIGATION IN MECHANICAL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY online course. In addition, an understanding of the plastics commonly used 3D Printers will be investigated in our ENGT 32101 POLYMERS I online course. Individuals who complete the MERT 22003 COMPUTER-AIDED TOOL DESIGN course will course will gain an understanding of tool design practices and procedures including materials, commercial standards, cutting tools, drill jigs, fixtures, dies, and gauges using computer-aided design.
Individuals who complete the MERT 22005 STATICS course will gain an understanding of basic vector mechanics, calculation of reactions from applied forces, drawing free body diagrams, working with equations of equilibrium, analysis of simple structures, calculating mass properties and forces due to friction.
Currently licensed Ohio teachers can apply for reimbursement of the Computer Science Endorsement coursework. The financial support is available through the 21st Century Computer Science Workplace program funded by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce.
Individuals who complete the MERT 12001 COMPUTER-AIDED DESIGN course will receive an introduction to 3D modeling techniques to design and draft mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks. This course is offered online.
In order to add the Computer Science Endorsement to your Resident Educator or Professional Ohio teaching license, you must complete the Computer Science Endorsement coursework and pass the Ohio Assessment Exam (OAE).
Individuals who complete the ENGR 33700 QUALITY TECHNIQUES course will receive an introduction to quality management and the tools and techniques including the basic tools identified by ASQ (American Society for Quality) as well as an introduction to Lean and Six Sigma. The information presented helps prepare the student to qualify for the Quality Process Analyst Certification. This course is offered online.
