In July 2016, Jill Cofojohn became the first radiation therapist in Ohio to use proton therapy to treat a cancer patient. A group of student and faculty researchers from Kent State University's Department of Biological Sciences ventured into the wetlands near Kent State University's Kent Campus to install nesting boxes for the native wood ducks. The group was led by Lauren Kinsman-Costello, Ph.D., a Kent State associate professor who studies wetlands and how the animals that live there interact with their environment. Jason Lorenzon, J.D., assistant professor of aeronautics at Kent State University, was recently featured on 93.5 WAKR’s Ray Horner Morning Show and detailed the new changes coming to the Kent State airport. In June 2023, the Kent State Board of Trustees a number of approved resolutions for the aeronautics program. Since then, the program continues to make changes to improve the airport and curriculum.
