On Wednesday, March 15th, the College of Aeronautics and Engineering hosted their biggest Career Fair to date. Over 40 companies attended, talking to students about possible career opportunities and internships. The Flying Flashes are once again taking on the Air Race Classic! After the success of last year’s team, Laura Wilson and Peyton Turner will be teaming up to fly in the annual competition of female pilots spanning nearly 2,400 miles. This year is the 46th year of the competition, bringing together pilots of all ages and diverse backgrounds to compete against other passionate pilots for first place. On December 9th, students in Dr. Benjamin Kwasa’s Introduction to Engineering course demonstrated their Lighter Than Air (LTA) projects. This project serves as a class capstone, where students are placed on teams and must successfully design, build, and fly an aircraft that adheres to a specified budget. Students work with their teams to come up with a preliminary design before giving a presentation of their work. On Wednesday, November 30th, Dr. Evren Koptur’s Computer Engineering Technology Capstone class presented their final projects to College of Aeronautics students, faculty, and staff. Senior students, some preparing to graduate in December, programmed two different drone projects: one with the purpose of identifying potentially threatened networks, and another to ease the job of Kent State’s own parking services.
