Voluntary Long-Term Care Insurance
As part of the benefits package, Kent State University makes available voluntary long-term care insurance through Legacy Services. Legacy is an independent broker representing multiple brand name carriers. This benefit is available to all Kent State employees and family members, subject to underwriting.
Long-term care insurance pays for home health care, assisted living and nursing home care to help people with the functions of day-to-day living like bathing, dressing, toileting, transferring and eating. Also covered are services related to rehabilitation, chronic illness and cognitive impairment.
All of the plans offered by Legacy qualify for the State of Ohio's long-term care partnership program. Under this program each dollar that your policy pays out in benefits entitles you to keep a dollar of your assets if you ever need to apply for Medicaid services. This extra asset protection does not increase the cost of the insurance.
