Biography

Anna Hutcheson is a doctoral candidate studying Transnational Politics and Conflict Analysis & Management. Her research interests include European banking policy and political violence, with a particular focus on the prosecution of war crimes. She was recently published in German Politics with Dr. Mark Cassell. Her dissertation work focuses on the 2016 International Criminal Court (ICC) trial of Jean-Pierre Bemba, the first and only conviction for wartime rape at the ICC. She is interested in the ways in which outside actors, especially transnational activists, are able to play a role in bringing perpetrators of war crimes and crimes against humanity to justice. Hutcheson also manages a grant with Dr. Boyd-Swan and Dr. Nickels of the Pols department, the Growing Democracy Project.
