Yanhai Du, Ph.D., College of Aeronautics and Engineering professor, has been working with an interdisciplinary research team to develop a hybrid fuel cell battery/capacitor. This fuel cell is the first to have been developed for commercial unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), such as drones. The new technology could have benefits in the military, commercial, inspection, and emergency response sectors.
This project was funded by the Ohio Federal Research Network (OFRN). Read the full story from OFRN: Innovation Spotlight: Kent State University innovates power source for Unmanned Aircraft Systems to extend flight time and increase payload capabilities.
