Hispanic Heritage Month 2023 Theme

Nationally, Sept. 15 marks the start of Hispanic Heritage Month. This year, Kent State is celebrating the 2023 Hispanic Heritage Month as Avanzando Juntos: Moving Forward Together with numerous events and celebrations.  

Kent State Today will be following six Golden Flashes for the 2023-24 academic year to chronicle their lives.

Kent State Today will be following a group of Golden Flashes for the 2023-24 academic year chronicling their efforts and successes during the fall and spring semesters. The group includes students, faculty and administrators who are at different places on their Kent State University journeys.

A combination of powerful art, reflective dance and historical courage are meant to connect and inspire a new generation of heroes. The art exhibition Holocaust Heroes: Fierce Females Tapestries and Sculpture by Linda Stein takes residence at Kent State this fall.

Flashes of Pride 2023 Photo Session

This week began the annual photo shoot for the Flashes of Pride Poster, which features the faces, names, sexual identity and majors of some of Kent State’s LGBTQ+ community and allies.

After two days of heavy rains and intense winds across Northeast Ohio, the skies cleared, creating perfect weather for this year’s Akron Pride Festival, which took place on Saturday, Aug. 26, in downtown Akron. About 35 Kent State University students, faculty, staff and alumni gathered to take part in the Akron Equity March, which kicked off this year’s events.

Kent State has been named to the list for the sixth consecutive year, having been included each year since Forbes began publishing the Best Employers for Women list in 2018.
