School of Art Alumni
Eight Kent State University School of Art faculty and alumni have been awarded the Ohio Arts Council’s Individual Excellence Awards for 2023.
Sam Gibbons, who studied Fine Art at Kent State University, had one of his paintings featured on the cover of Hi-Fructose Magazine, Vol. 9 and inside a current issue.
Davin Ebanks, assistant professor of glass and M.F.A. alumnus, has been selected for the group exhibition "Full Spectrum: Visionaries Elevating Art, Craft, and Design" on view at the Pittsburgh Glass Center through May 23, 2022.
The Massillon Museum is currently showing a solo exhibition titled “Suspended Animations” featuring Rebecca Cross, M.F.A. ’07, on view through June 16. The exhibition, which is on view in the museum's Studio M gallery, includes a series of drawings on silk and a sculptural installation.
Omid Tavakoli, M.F.A. '19 Print Media and Photography, was interviewed about his life and art for ideastream in April. The article “Equity in Art: Balancing Biracial Identity" centers around about his experience being a biracial artist. He also talks about his time studying at Kent State.
In his professional career as a glassblower, Kent State University alumnus Dan Alexander has done a lot in the decade since graduating with a B.F.A. in Craft in 2010.
