Step #7 - Apply for a Social Security number.

Apply for a Social Security number. You must have a Social Security number to work in the United States. 

• If you already have a Social Security number, skip this step.

1. Download the Social Security Employment Verification Form and have your supervisor complete Section 1. 
2. Upload form to ISSS Student & Scholar Portal
3. Once ISSS completes their portion, you will receive an email with your completed document along with the next steps for going to the Social Security Administration Office.
