K-12 and Educators
The College of Aeronautics and Engineering offers a variety of K-12 programs for future aeronautics and engineering leaders who are interested in aeronautics, aviation, engineering, engineering technology, computing, and systems. We believe that young people should be given opportunities – beyond the classroom – to explore STEM and interact with fellow future change-makers!
College of Aeronautics and Engineering Camps
The College of Aeronautics and Engineering has been hosting camps for more than a decade, inspiring boys and girls to explore the world of aeronautics experts and engineers.
FAA Aircraft Pilots Workforce Development Program
A series of 3-day train-the-trainer workshops will be provided to high school teachers from Northeast Ohio and the surrounding region as part of the workforce development program for high school students. The high school teachers will be trained in a curriculum that will be a meaningful experience in preparing students to become aircraft pilots and/or unmanned aircraft systems operators. As part of their training, the teachers will be given the opportunity to earn a Part 107 Remote Pilot Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS) Certificate through in class and online training. A total of four workshops will be held at the Kent State campus and airport. Housing and meals will be provided.
High School Visits
We are happy to welcome large high school and community groups for on-campus visits. Students have the opportunity to tour facilities, meet with current students/faculty, and participate in hands-on activities experienced in the College of Aeronautics and Engineering at Kent State University. Group tours are available for groups of 8 or more. Students must be in 6th-12th grade.
