Support the College

Interim Dean, John Sankovic, Ph.D., M.B.A., P.E.

Dear Alumni and Friends,

The College of Aeronautics and Engineering has never been better positioned to shape the future of aviation and engineering. Every day, our students, faculty and industry partners are advancing new ideas, solving complex challenges and preparing the next generation of innovators.

We have built remarkable momentum. Our programs continue to grow, our research enterprise is expanding, and our students are learning in state-of-the-industry facilities designed for the technologies and industries shaping the future.

Our internationally respected aeronautics programs are anchored by the Kent State Airport, Ohio's longest-surviving public-use airport, where students train with the state's largest collegiate aircraft fleet. With the longest continuous AABI accreditation among collegiate aeronautics programs in Ohio, Kent State’s reputation for excellence extends well beyond our campus through international partnerships, FAA collaboration and industry pathway programs that connect students with opportunities across the aviation industry.

Our engineering programs are advancing just as rapidly, with students learning and conducting research in sophisticated environments supporting aerospace, robotics and autonomous systems, cybersecurity, digital engineering, advanced manufacturing and emerging technologies. The Digital Engineering Design Center expands those opportunities through an undergraduate-focused environment for model-based systems engineering, simulation and digital technologies, while research and project-based experiences give students opportunities to contribute to discovery and innovation throughout their education.

Increasingly, these disciplines converge. Through initiatives such as the Center for Advanced Air Mobility, our faculty and students bring expertise from aeronautics and engineering together to explore the future of aviation, autonomous systems, advanced airspace, sustainable technologies and mobility.

None of this happens alone.

The support of our alumni, corporate partners and friends makes it possible to provide scholarships, invest in innovative learning environments, expand research opportunities and equip our students with experiences that set them apart. Your generosity helps attract talented students and faculty while ensuring the college continues to evolve alongside the industries we serve.

As interim dean, I am honored to help lead a college with such a strong tradition of excellence and an even brighter future. Together, we will continue building on that foundation, strengthening partnerships and creating opportunities that empower our students to achieve more than they imagined possible.

Whether you choose to support student scholarships, research initiatives, academic programs or strategic priorities, your investment makes a lasting difference. Thank you for believing in our students and for helping us advance the future of aeronautics and engineering.

Together, we can create opportunities that will have an impact for generations.

Sincerely,

John M. Sankovic, Ph.D., M.B.A., P.E.
